To me love was a fantasy... I let myself believe

In storybook romances a child could conceive

So long I waited for sweet love to take me off my feet

I'd hoped that somehow this would make my life complete

Love's not forever… all things must end

Hearts bruised and broken never do mend

With all our best intentions

Right from the moment we first started

We never once expected we would drift apart

But now our time has come for going

Off on our own in new directions

We're at a loss for words now

Except to say goodbye

We've come to our decision now... it doesn't matter why

We can't deny it's over... there's no use to try

I know I'll never look at love as ever quite the same

I guess that's part of growing... there's no one to blame

Love's not forever… all things must end

Hearts bruised and broken never do mend

With all our best intentions

Right from the moment we first started

We never once expected we would drift apart

But now our time has come for going

Off on our own in new directions

We're at a loss for words now

Except to say goodbye

You won't see any tears from me

As I'll wait to say

Till after you've departed...

(whispered)  I'll always love you!
