In my hometown of confusion where this boy became a man

He explained it to me slowly to be sure I'd understand

“Son I take life as I find it and I give it all I've got

Cause it's gone before you know it and regrets I've wanted not”

I've loved skinny blondes in blue jeans… voluptuous brunettes…

And fire-breathin' redheads who smoked like cigarettes…

Every book a different cover… each a story short or tall…

In my library of lovers… in my life I've read them all

“Boy your life is meant for learnin' on this school of solid earth

And you've got to be a master to accumulate your worth

Me I've left my heart doors open… overcome all fear and doubt

Let experience be welcome not to ever lock it out”

I've loved skinny blondes in blue jeans… voluptuous brunettes…

And fire-breathin' redheads who smoked like cigarettes…

Every book a different cover… each a story short or tall…

In my library of lovers… in my life I've read them all

“I'm an older man and wiser so I've told you what I can

Though I've failed to name The Nameless still I'm sure you'll understand

There's one thing I cannot give you… you must bring upon yourself

With the wanderlust of wonder lies the gold beyond all wealth”

I've loved skinny blondes in blue jeans… voluptuous brunettes…

And fire-breathin' redheads who smoked like cigarettes…

Every book a different cover… each a story short or tall…

In my library of lovers… in my life I've read them all

In my life I've read them all
